15U Minutemen Open Up Their Season with a Split
The rain finally left the area long enough for the 15U Newton Minutemen to open up their season on Sunday vs. the RBI Hawks at beautiful O'Donnell Field on the campus of Harvard University. Game 1 was dominated by pitching, but it was the Hawks' pitching that kept the Minutemen off the scoreboard in a 1-0 win. Curtis Beatrice threw well for the Minutemen, going 6 innings while striking out 9 and allowing 1 unearned run.
Game 2 the bats awoke, as the Minutemen received contributions from many in a 12-5 win. The offensive highlight from Game 2 was Daniel Goldstein's RBI Single to left field with the bases loaded that opened things up for the Minutemen. Spencer Anderson threw 4 innings for the win. The 15U Minutemen return to action next Saturday, with a Doubleheader vs. Legends Baseball, beginning at 8:30am at Amesbury High School.
