2013 Elite Program Tryouts Announced

The Minutemen are excited to announce tryout dates for the 2013 Elite Program:

To be held at Albermarle Field, Newton MA 02460

12U (Any player that will be 12 or younger on May 1st, 2013) - August 25th 9:30 - 11:30 and September 9 9:30 - 11:30

13U (Any player that will be 13 on May 1st, 2013) - August 25th 12-2 and September 9 12-2

14U/15U (Any player that will be 15 or younger on May 1st, 2013) - August 26th 9:30 - 11:30 and September 8th 9:30 - 11:30

16U/17U (Any player that will be 17 or younger on May 1st 2013) - August 26th 12-2 and September 8th 12-2

15U Minutemen Win DII NEEBL Crown!

The 15U Minutemen capped off a great season by winning the New England Elite Baseball League Division II Championship on Saturday July 25th. The NEEBL DII championship represents the first championship in Minutemen history.

8 Minutemen Named to New England Elite Baseball League All Star Team

The Minutemen 15U squad was well represented at the New England Elite Baseball League 15U Division II All-Star Game. Eight members of the 15U Minutemen were honored by the league as all-stars: Curtis Beatrice, Mikey Barbieri, Tommy Hodgson, Kevin Alexy, Christian Cox, James Patti, Dylan Spordone, and Douglas Friedberg.

Register Today for Minutemen Fall Ball

The Minutemen are excited to announce that registration has opened for 2012 Fall Ball. Teams will practice twice a week with 1 game over the weekend. Registration is open to all and slots are filling up quickly. 

We will field teams in the following age groups:

12U

15U

High School (16-18)

Tommy Hodgson Throws No Hitter

15U Minutemen pitcher Tommy Hodgson threw a no-hitter on Friday in the first game of pool play of the Cap Cod Wood Bat Tournament. The Minutemen defeated the South Shore Hurricanes 1-0 behind an RBI double from Douglas Friedberg. Hodgson struck out 10 and faced the minimum - the only base runner he allowed came on a 2 out walk in the bottom of the 7th and was quickly erased at second by catcher James Patti.

15U Minutemen to participate in 2012 Cape Cod Wood Bat Tournament

Stay updated with the Minutemen Baseball Website and @NewtonMinutemen on Twitter all weekend long as the 15U Minutemen compete in the 2012 Cape Cod Wood Bat Tournament hosted by The Dugout Baseball and Softball Club June 22-24.

15U Minutemen complete weekend sweep

The 15U Minutemen completed a weekend sweep Sunday at Stein Diamond at Brandeis University beating Saugus Wings 10-0 and 8-0 behind solid pitching performances from Dylan Spordone and Jeremy Knight. This came on the heels of a Saturday sweep of the Plympton Crush 5-2 and 9-8. With the wins, the team improves to 6-2 on the young season (6-0 in division). They are in action this weekend at the Cap Cod Wood Bat Tournament beginning Friday afternoon.

15U Minutemen Open Up Their Season with a Split

The rain finally left the area long enough for the 15U Newton Minutemen to open up their season on Sunday vs. the RBI Hawks at beautiful O'Donnell Field on the campus of Harvard University. Game 1 was dominated by pitching, but it was the Hawks' pitching that kept the Minutemen off the scoreboard in a 1-0 win. Curtis Beatrice threw well for the Minutemen, going 6 innings while striking out 9 and allowing 1 unearned run.

Newton Minutemen Join New England Baseball Elite

The Newton Minutemen are proud to announce that they will be joining the New England Elite Baseball League for the 2012 season. The New England Elite Baseball League is comprised of some of the most experienced, well-organized and highly-respected baseball programs in the New England region. The Minutemen are thrilled about joining this league and strongly believes that it will offer a tremendous benefit to the overall experience of the Minutemen program and it's young baseball athletes.
