The Online Home of Minutemen Baseball

Minutemen Baseball is a skill development program that focuses not only on the fundamentals of baseball, but on developing the entire player. It is our belief that player development is a continual progress and comes in multiple stages.  As players develop, many aspects must be addressed from basic skills to body control and bio-mechanics to the mental aspect of the game.  If a player is to succeed at higher levels this all must be continually taught and reinforced and the player must be dedicated to learning. We use yoga inspired strength and flexibility training to unlock the potential energy of a player along with a nutritionist and baseball specific conditioning coach to supplement the curriculum designed by our Director of Player Development, Mike Freire. While we try to focus on the progression of the athlete, we also understand the importance of competition and as such were charter members of the New England Elite Baseball League, one of the premiere travel baseball leagues in New England.

Fall Ball Program

The Minutemen Baseball Fall program is open to anyone who wishes to enroll. The Fall Ball program lasts for eight weeks beginning in early September. Teams will be fielded in the following age groups: 12U, 15U, and High School (16-18). Teams will have two practices a week. These practices will be run in a clinic style fashion using an abridged version of our Player Development curriculum so that kids can get the most out of a shortened fall season. There will be a game played each weekend in Newton, Weston and the surrounding area. To register for Minutemen Fall Ball go to our Online Registration.

Elite Player Development Program

The Minutemen Baseball Elite Player Development Program will utilize a complete and progressive curriculum that is designed to make those selected for the EPD Program the best baseball athletes and individuals they can be.  The sessions will include topics such as specific strength and body control, physics and bio-mechanics of the professional baseball swing, injury free throwing, pitching with the body and not just the arm. We individualize each position and stress middle infield defense, dynamics of the corner infielder, total control out-field work and building the "game changing catcher".  We break down the philosophies and strategies of the game covering themes such as: defensive positioning and responsibilities, pop-up and fly ball hierarchy, on-deck preparation for the hitter, and dugout work and adjustment making for the smart baseball player. Minutemen will have Elite Player Development teams in the following age groups (determined by player’s age as of May 1, 2013): 12U, 13U, 15U, and 16/17U. The curriculum begins in November when the players build a foundation for the year working with a baseball specific strength coach. The application of baseball related development begins soon thereafter at our indoor home at Extra Innings in Watertown. When the fields of New England thaw out in the Spring of 2013, all of the Minutemen teams compete in the New England Elite Baseball League. Teams can expect to play 25-30 league games in addition to non-league games against top programs in the region and select showcases and tournaments.
